September 2025 Newsletter

September 2025 Newsletter

Dear Hillcrest Families and Friends,

I hope that this message finds you and your family doing well.   I wanted to provide a brief mid month reminder about up and coming things happening at Hillcrest!

Parent Teacher Conferences - October 7 and 9

Parent Teacher Conferences are around the corner and will be taking place on Tuesday, October 7th and Thursday, October 9th from 3:15-7:15.  Your child’s teacher will be sending home a “Sign up Genius” form on Friday, September 26th for you to sign up for a time to individually meet with your child’s teacher.

Coffee and Conversation - Topic: School Safety

Join us on Friday, September 26th from 8-9 for “Coffee and Conversation” with our School Resource
Officer and District Safety Liaison to talk about our Standard Response Protocols that are used to support school safety.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

Now serving “snacks” at lunch time!

We’re excited to announce that our à la carte snack program has started back up during lunch this school year! We want to share some important information to help students participate if they choose.

  • Daily Offerings: The kitchen manager provides à la carte snacks daily, unless staffing or other circumstances prevent it.
  • Healthy Options: All snacks are Smart Snack compliant and offer healthier versions of the items you’d typically see at the grocery store.
  • Collecting Payments: Teachers will collect money once a week (on Mondays) and submit it to the kitchen manager. This helps ensure that cash students bring for snacks is secure, especially since recess occurs before lunch.  Please note that teachers will be collection money on any day other than Monday (or Tuesday if there’s no school on Monday.)
  • Recommended Option: We encourage parents to upload funds via the School Café Family Hub, which is a safe and convenient way to manage student snack accounts.

You can find more information about the à la carte program and access the portal to add funds via the [https://www.adams12.org/resources/nutrition/meal-pricing]

Did you know?

As a result of inadequate state funding, Adams 12 Five Star Schools had to cut $27.5 million and eliminate approximately 150 jobs for the 2025-2026 school year.  In November, voters will decide on a proposed MLO, which would generate funding to invest in world-class staff, academic programming and school safety. Learn more.

CANDY contest!

Our school will have a candy collecting contest to support Northglenn PD’s “Safe Street Halloween”.  The class that collects the most candy (in pounds) will earn a pizza party with NGPD and will get to play a soccer game with Mr. Peterson and me!  Candy will be collected September 29 through October 10th at 9:00am.

Upcoming Dates:

  • September 26 - PARENT EVENT - “Coffee and Conversation”
  • September 29 - NO School , Teacher Work Day
  • October 2 - Picture Day for students
  • October 7 and 9, 3:15-7:15 - Parent Teacher Conferences

As always, thank you for your partnership - we are excited to see you in the upcoming weeks ahead!.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, feedback or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Erika Fiorenza, Principal
