October 2025 Newsletter

October 2025 Newsletter

Good Morning Hillcrest Families and Friends!

We look forward to seeing all families at our upcoming parent teacher conferences, scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th and Thursday, October 9th from 3:15-7:15.  If you have not yet scheduled a conference with your teacher, please call the main office at 720-972-5380.

The Board unanimously votes to place a mill levy override (MLO) on the November ballot!

Nearly 8,000 elementary school students in our district lack dedicated classes with hands-on, STEM-focused or exploratory learning. Ballot Issue 5B, a proposed mill levy override, would allow the district to add elementary teachers for this type of learning, creating opportunities for students to experience specials classes twice a day. Get the facts on 5B.

SAVE THE DATE!  Family Fall Festival - GAME NIGHT!  October 23, 2025, 5:30-7:00 pm

We are excited for our annual Title One family event on October 23rd!  Please plan to join us for a night of family fun including:

  • Learn more about what it means for Hillcrest to be a Title One School
  • Make and take a NEW MATH GAME for home!
  • PLAY games alongside your child and school staff for a chance to win a fun family game
  • AND MORE!

Northglenn Police Department - Safe Street CANDY DRIVE!!!

We are collecting candy to support the Northglenn Police Department Safe Street Halloween Event that takes place on October 18th from 4-7pm.  The contest will continue to run October 6-10th at 9am.  The class that collects the most candy in pounds will earn a pizza party with NGPD and a soccer game with Mr. Peterson and me!

FALL BREAK  - NO SCHOOL

A reminder that all Adams 12 schools, including Hillcrest, have a fall break during the week of October 13-17 and there will be no school for students.  We look forward to seeing students when we return back on Monday, October 20th.

HALLOWEEN

While we are in the process of planning for an inclusive, safe and enjoyable Halloween celebration at Hillcrest, we wanted to send reminders related to costumes in the event that your child will be dressing up.  The following are considered not appropriate for school or school events:

  • Costumes that are overly graphic, promote violence or otherwise might logically be assumed to be offensive to others
  • Costumes that are sexually suggestive and would otherwise violate the school’s dress code
  • Costumes with sound effects, lights or other components which would disrupt the classroom learning environment
  • Costumes that could be considered insensitive to various races, cultures and religions
  • Toy or facsimile weapons of any kind (guns, knives, swords, bats, etc.) are not allowed
  • Costumes or dress of any kind that may be potentially disruptive to the educational or school environments

In 2016, Adams 12 prohibited clown costumes due to nationwide safety concerns. Although we are not aware of any current threats, the district has chosen to maintain this prohibition as part of our 2025 Halloween guidelines.  Students and staff are not permitted to wear clown masks or costumes on school grounds.  This decision supports a safe and respectful environment for all.
