November Mid Month Newsletter

Good Afternoon Hillcrest Families and Friends, 

 

We hope that this email finds you well as we transition to our fall break.  For the month of November, we have been focused on gratitude and as such, noticing, naming and celebrating all of the small and big things in which we are grateful for, that bring us joy, and help us reframe our thinking to focus on the positive aspects that exist.  

 

CHOICE ENROLLMENT in ADAMS 12:

The Adams 12 School Choice window opens December 1, 2024 at which time a list of schools open to Choice will be posted to this website: Choice Program The deadline for priority  consideration is January 2, 2025. Please review our updated Choice Policy. 

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER - “One Hour Delay” and something special at Hillcrest!

As many of you already know, when we experience extreme weather, Adams 12 may determine that a one hour delay is needed for all staff and students in order to arrive safely at school.  Historically, these days have been some of our lowest student-attended days, with many classrooms being less than half full! We believe that ALL days offer  important opportunities for learning and so starting this year, a district “one hour delay” notification will be followed up with a special Hillcrest announcement!  For our first delayed start, you will receive a follow up text with “come an hour late and wear your jammies or favorite hat!” We know that it can be tricky to get kids to school when the weather is lousy; we appreciate your efforts and we want to make it a little bit special for those who do attend.  

 

SUPPORT FOR THE UPCOMING HOLIDAYS:

As the holiday season approaches, we know this time of year can bring both joy and unique challenges. Through our partnerships with community organizations, we can connect you with a variety of resources, including:

• Food banks 

• Medical and healthcare services

• Housing support for families

• Limited holiday gift programs

Attendance:

After Thanksgiving break we will be running an attendance incentive that acknowledges perfect classroom attendance.  Everyday your child’s class has perfect attendance, they will earn a letter.  Once their class has earned enough letters to spell “Snowman” they will earn a winter themed treat  and a whole class art activity.  Please help your child’s class win this fun award and experience by helping your child get to school every day!

 

Upcoming Dates:

• Monday, November 25- Friday, November 29 - NO School, Thanksgiving Break

• Monday, December 2 - Return to school!

• December 5 and 6 - Gifted and Talented Testing

• December 19 - End of First Semester

• Friday, December 20 - No School for students, Teacher workday

• Monday, December 23 - January 6 - Winter Break

• Tuesday, January 7 - Students return
