February Mid Month Newsletter

Dear Hillcrest Families and Friends, 

It was such a pleasure to see many of you during our recent Parent Teacher conferences.  As we transition into a mid winter break, we wanted to provide you with a couple of quick updates and reminders.

AFTER SCHOOL USE of the playground area       

As many of you know, we have an after school PEAK program here at HCE for some of our students in grades 3-5.  When the PEAK program is utilizing the playground and outside fields, students cannot be mixing with families and other children for the safety and security of the students in the program.  If the PEAK program is outside, you will kindly be asked to leave to allow for the after school program to use the space.

BUS LANE

We’ve been having some “traffic jams” in the bus lanes, both in the morning and afternoon.  Please help us keep those lanes clear for our buses between 7:35 - 7:50 am and 2:15-2:40 pm.  This will ensure that buses can smoothly pull in and out to safely get kids where they need to go.  

MID WINTER BREAK Reading Challenge

The upcoming week off of school is a great time for your child to get in some extra reading time!  Students received a reading challenge paper and if they complete the challenge, they will be able to participate in an extra recess with Mr. Peterson and me after we return from break!

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE

Hillcrest’s Kids Heart Challenge program is up and running for the month of February!  We can't wait for you and your student to learn some of these amazing heart healthy habits and lifesaving skills!

Our goal is to raise donations for the American Heart Association.

Every student who raises $50 will qualify to purchase discounted tickets and get a special ON COURT experience with the Denver Nuggets!

• Monday, February 17- Friday, February 21 - Mid Winter Break - No school for students

• Monday, March 10 - NO school for students
• Tuesday, March 18, 5:30-6:30 - HCE Art and Choir Showcase
• March 31 - April 4 - Spring break
