Final 24-25 Newsletter
Good Afternoon Hillcrest Families and Friends!
Thank you to our students and families who were able to attend our recent Celebration of Learning community event! We had over 450 people here to celebrate the amazing work that our students have completed this year and we enjoyed being able to spend time with our Hillcrest community.
FIELD DAY - Friday, May 23
Field day will take place on Friday, May 23rd for all students. This year, our students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will have field day from 8:10 - 10:35 on the back playground and field area. Our students in grades K, 1 and 2 will participate from 11:50 - 2:15. A couple of friendly reminders for students:
- Please send your child(ren) in comfortable clothes that can get dirty and wet
- Don’t forget to wear athletic shoes and put on sunscreen in advance
We invite all parents to attend and cheer on our students as they participate in this fun event. There is no need to check in at that main office; you can meet up with your child’s class in the back of the school. A couple of friendly reminders for parents:
- No dogs or vaping will be allowed, given that this is a school event
- If you decide to bring younger or older siblings, please respect that the events are for Hillcrest students only (for safety and supervision reasons)
- If you are planning to check your student out after field day, you will need to go to the main office and use your ID to check your student out
Kindergarten and Fifth Grade Continuation Ceremonies
As our kindergarten students and fifth grade students transition to the next grade level, we hold a celebratory continuation ceremony to honor and recognize these milestones. The continuation ceremonies will be held on Thursday, May 29th in the school cafeteria. More information will be sent directly to kindergarten and 5th grade families.
How to get ready for the 2025-2026 school year!
Keep your child reading! Time spent reading will help maintain the growth that students have made over the course of this year. To encourage reading, we will be sending home a reading log on the final day of school for all students to participate. If your child reads for a minimum of 5 hours this summer they will be invited to participate in a popsicle party when we return in August.
“Book Shopping”
You’ll notice that students may be coming home this week with new/gently used books - those are yours to keep! Enjoy!
Parent Portal
More information will be coming regarding registering through the online portal prior to the beginning of next school year. Through the portal, you will be able to view your child’s teacher in early August.
