August Mid Month Newsletter

August Mid Month Newsletter

Good Afternoon Hillcrest Families and Friends,

What an incredible first week coming together as a community of learners.  If last week is any indication of what’s to come, it is going to be an amazing year full of growth and learning.

SCHOOL COMMUNICATION

For new and returning families, I want to remind you that I will send school-wide communication at the beginning and middle of the month to your email and post the communication on our school website.  Additionally any school information on paper, will come home to all students on Wednesdays.  This will include flyers such as  school picture information, after school clubs, etc.  Classroom teachers will be communicating primarily through Class Dojo so please make sure that you are connected to your child’s classroom teacher.

BUS LANES

Please keep in mind if you are dropping off or picking up your child from school, the bus lane directly in front of the school is to be used only by buses from roughly 7:30-7:45 and 2:20-2:45.  We request that you do not park and leave your vehicle unattended in the bus lane because it will become trapped between buses!

Parent Right to Know

As a parent of a student at Hillcrest Elementary, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teacher who instructs your child. This is a requirement for all districts that receive Title I funds. Federal law allows you to request certain information about your student’s classroom teacher. The law also requires the district to give you this information in a timely manner upon request. Listed below is the information in which you have the right to ask for regarding each of your student’s classroom teachers. Whether the Colorado Department of Education has licensed or endorsed your student’s teacher for the grades and subjects taught. Whether CDE has decided that your student’s teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances. The teacher’s college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and, if so, the subject of the degrees.

Whether any teachers’ aides or similar para-educators provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications. Please contact Tim Griffin in the Adams 12 Human Resources Office at 720-972-4082 or tim.griffin@adams12.org if you would like to receive any of this information.

Blueprint Funding Proposals

Through Blueprint, every school in the district will receive facility repairs or updates, and investments in staffing and programming. Check out the Virtual Map to see what our school would receive at adams12.org/funding-proposals (P.S If this is the first you’ve heard of Blueprint + its funding proposals, hit that link above to learn more)
